HM Submarine L10 did not have a long career in the Royal Navy. Commissioned into service on 1st June, 1918, she was sunk three months later on 3rd October. On that date, HM Submarine L10, was operational in the North Sea, searching for a German raiding party consisting of five destroyers. She found them in the Heligoland Bight, close to the German coast and was able to move into position unnoticed and fire a torpedo at the German destroyer, S33 which began to sink. But then she was spotted by the other ships which quickly ran her down and sank her. She went down with all hands, one of whom was Frank Hutchings. |
